VIDEO | ED ally’s farm invaded again, workers’ houses demolished
Story By Jairos Saunyama
Scores of farm workers at Lesbury Farm in Rusape, Manicaland Province, were left counting their losses after an alleged land baron invaded the farm and destroyed their houses, claiming he was the new owner.
Lesbury Farm belongs to the Smart family, who were invited back to the area in 2017 by the government.
The Smart family, one of the most highly rated farming families in the country, had left for Europe after the late President Robert Mugabe’s ally and cleric, Bishop Trevor Manhanga, and his cronies violently took over the farm. However, President Emmerson Mnangagwa intervened and invited the family back to the farm.
In this video, farm workers accuse a local man identified as Samhungu of leading the fresh invasions at Lesbury Farm.
