Zanu PF Politburo Braces for Showdown
Story By Staff Reporter
Zanu PF will hold a crucial politburo meeting tomorrow at 2pm at its headquarters in Harare. The meeting will officially open the party’s annual conference. The conference runs from October 13 to 17 at the Chinhoyi University of Technology in Mashonaland West Province.
This follows last Friday’s extraordinary politburo meeting, which the party postponed. Open disagreements and clashes over the proposed constitution changes forced the delay. The changes aim to align the party constitution with the national charter.
The key issue tomorrow is the contentious constitution amendments. The politburo must also approve the conference agenda.
On Wednesday, the party will hold a central committee meeting at 10am. This meeting forms part of the annual conference.
Delegates from the country’s 10 provinces will then travel to Chinhoyi on Thursday. The town lies about 120km north of Harare.
The conference will officially open on Friday at the venue. It will close on Saturday. Delegates will travel back home on Sunday.
