Chelsea vs Tottenham Betting Tips: Premier League Predictions, Odds and Head-to-Head
Kick-off: Saturday 24 October, 6:30pm, Stamford Bridge
The London derby comes to Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening. Chelsea are in the top four and in form, while Tottenham are just out of the bottom three. Therefore, we have picked two bets, and below you will also find the odds, the likely line-ups and the recent form.
Our Tips
- Over 2.5 goals and both teams to score: 5/6
- Joao Pedro to register an anytime assist: 17/4
Match Preview
Chelsea have bounced back well since the international break, beating Bournemouth 5-1 and Everton 2-0. Importantly, the Everton win also ended a long wait, as it was their first Premier League clean sheet in 23 matches. As a result, they sit fourth, and Xabi Alonso’s side have reason to think a title push is still possible.
Tottenham, on the other hand, arrive with some relief after their first win of the season, a 3-1 home victory over Coventry on Monday. In that game, James Maddison scored on his first start of the campaign. Meanwhile, Dejan Kulusevski returned after more than a year out injured. Pedro Porro could be fit, but Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended.
Chelsea, however, are without goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who broke his jaw at Everton, so Mike Penders deputises. Malo Gusto is recovering from a virus and may be available. Even so, few changes are expected because of the team’s recent form and the return of Moises Caicedo in midfield.
Because of that form, the market makes Chelsea the clear favourites at odds-on prices of roughly 4/5. In contrast, Tottenham are priced at around 11/4 to 14/5.
Tip 1: Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score (5/6)
Chelsea matches have produced plenty of goals this season. In fact, six of their seven league games have had three or more goals, and five of those saw both sides score.
Caicedo’s return has made the team harder to break down. However, it is too early to say their defensive problems are fixed. Besides, the one low-scoring game was last weekend’s 2-0 win at Everton, a club whose matches have tended to be tight for years.
Tottenham, meanwhile, should be more open, especially with the confidence from beating Coventry. Moreover, both teams have scored in each of Spurs’ last four games. Therefore, the combined bet looks a sensible price.
Tip 2: Joao Pedro Anytime Assist (17/4)
Only Erling Haaland has scored more Premier League goals than Joao Pedro this season. As a result, his anytime goalscorer price has shortened to just above evens. The assist market, however, offers better value.
For example, he has already set up three goals this season, including one in two of Chelsea’s three home games. In addition, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers support him and make runs into the box, so he has teammates well placed to finish the chances he creates. For this reason, the assist bet is worth backing.
