A man accused of fatally shooting his former partner, a Midlands State University (MSU) student, has reportedly died by suicide.
Godknows Muleya, from Bulawayo, had drawn widespread public attention over the alleged killing of Lesidi Nkomo, who hailed from Plumtree in Matabeleland South Province.
Sources say the shooting followed a domestic dispute between the two. Muleya allegedly shot Nkomo dead and then fled.
The day after the incident, Muleya posted a message on his Facebook timeline apologising to Nkomo and expressing remorse. Sources close to the matter confirmed that a few hours later he shot himself at a lodge in Chiredzi.
Nkomo, aged 25, was a Level 4.1 student at MSU, studying for an Honours Degree in Psychology. She leaves behind a young child.
