Politburo Cancelled to Foil “Procedural Coup” Against Mnangagwa
Story By Staff Reporter
Opposition fringe elements such as Jealousy have run out of credible ways to confront the Government. They now stay politically relevant by scavenging for scraps of internal ZANU-PF discourse and inflating them into something they are not.
Yesterday’s events look nothing like the sensational story Jealousy is trying to sell the public.
It is unfortunate, though predictable, that they have dragged Vice President Chiwenga into their fiction again. They have conveniently turned him into a poster figure for every factional illusion they conjure.
The truth is more sobering. Cancelling the Politburo was not only correct but necessary.
The decision protected President Mnangagwa from a self-serving Gang of Four, which includes Secretary for Legal Affairs Ziyambi Ziyambi. This clique has never sincerely supported the 2030 agenda and CAB3. Yesterday it tried to ambush the Politburo with a raft of far-reaching measures. Neither the President, as First Secretary of the Party, nor the Secretary General knew about them.
These were not party positions. They came from power-hungry scheming by a group intent on cornering due process.
Party leaders detected and resisted that irregularity, and it forced them to postpone the meeting.
In essence, they thwarted a procedural coup against the President. It was an ill-conceived move, and they saw through it long before the plotters could execute it.
It is therefore deeply ironic that characters like Jealousy, in their excitable haste to attack President Mnangagwa, now celebrate an intervention meant to protect the very leader they claim is under siege.
